Donkey Anyone?

Back before Christmas, when the weather was turning colder, somebody gave us a donkey.  I thought they probably didn't want to feed it through the winter...lots of people around here get rid of ponies, etc. before all the grazing is gone and they have to buy hay.  And it was such a sweet donkey ...so people-oriented!!!  Soon enough though, we discovered why this donkey was unwanted. 
He is a watch donkey!!!
Ever on the alert...he marches the boundary of his pasture, day and night...keeping trespassers away.  No cats, dogs, turkeys, deer, flocks of black birds, or other wildlife go unnoticed.  And if he spots them from afar, he will let out the most unspeakable LOUD noises as he races across his pen in pursuit of these intruders.  He is happy to keep up this labor at all hours.  2:00AM and 2:00PM are all alike to him. 
So, even though he is wonderfully sweet and friendly....even kissable according to the children...
